PFA Committees

We encourage you to become actively involved in our community by volunteering your time in any of our committees. We have something for everyone’s interest and schedule. Please refer to your monthly PFA newsletters for updated information on any activities and events.

Below is a brief description of the various PFA committees:

Alumni Support is responsible for continuing contact with alumni and their families. They also publish a newsletter.

Education Support administers a Mock SAT test and organizes after school SAT and PSAT prep courses taught by HTHS faculty for interested students. It also organizes Driver’s Ed courses and our annual Career Day in the spring where professionals from a variety of areas are invited to come speak to our students about their careers. Perhaps you or someone you know is involved in an occupation that utilizes math, science, or technology. We are always looking for speakers to help our students learn of the numerous applications for their talents.

Fundraising is comprised of numerous activities led by individual committees. They are the means by which this PFA is able to achieve its financial goals in support of our school community. Such activities include:

The Art & Gift Auction Our biggest fund-raiser where fabulous artwork is auctioned off and spectacular Gift Baskets are raffled.

The HTHS Clothing Sale

Barnes & Noble Days

Super 50/50 drawn during Classical Music Night, etc.

Annual Donation Option is available to those members who choose to contribute a single annual donation to the PFA.

Hospitality provides refreshments and food at PFA General Meetings, Guidance Nights, the Mock SAT, the Teacher Welcome Back Brunch, and the NHS Induction Ceremony. They organize the Welcome Back BBQ for students the first week of school and the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon in the spring. Food donations are needed the entire year for various events. This is a great committee to become involved with the PFA.

Membership actively seeks 100% participation in the PFA and maintains the database for current members. They publish the annual PFA Directory, which is an excellent resource given to all students and family members. They also organize the Emergency Closing phone chain.

Newsletter is responsible for publishing and mailing the PFA newsletter, The High Tech Times, which comes out 6 times a year.

Parent Student Activities organizes the Annual Post Prom Party held immediately following the Jr./Sr. Prom. Students enjoy a fun-filled night in a substance free, safe environment complete with games, music, entertainment and refreshments. This committee also hosts the Classical Music Night in December held at the school and the annual High Tech Family Picnic held in June.

Scholarship seeks funding and organizes the PFA Scholarship Awards available to all graduating HTHS seniors. Through the HTHS Guidance department, they make scholarship applications available to students in early spring.

Senior Luncheon Junior parents join together to host the traditional brunch for the graduating seniors and their parents on the day of commencement ceremonies.

Tech Support provides computer-based support for PFA functions. They will answer any questions concerning the BBS and its administration from the PFA community.

Corporate Grants benefit greatly our students. They are given to our school to help fund many academic activities. Should you be able to provide any information regarding the acquisition of new resources, please contact the PFA Corporate Grant Committee Chair.

If you interested in joining any of these committees, please contact the chairperson.
