Biography:

Mrs. Alice Tice is a member of High Tech’s Guidance Department and has been for the past five years. Born in East Orange and raised in West Orange, her favorite classes growing up were Science and Marriage in the Family, also belonging to the Drama Club, Health Careers Club, and Hospitality Club. A significant experience during her high school career was when she decided to take part in the Student Alternative Learning Experience, in which she assisted in an elementary school environment. This program, which she participated in for two years, provided her with the inspiration to pursue a career in the field of Special Education.

After graduating from high school, Mrs. Tice attended Trenton State College for her BS in Special Education. From there, she went on to receive her MA in Education and Pupil Personnel Certification from Georgian Court College and also received her Supervisor Certification from Montclair State College. Mrs. Tice has been working in the district for fifteen years, after teaching for nine years in private schools for troubled teenage students. She spent later years at Kiva High School, once again aiding troubled teens and also teaching science. At this school she received the Teacher of the Year award in 1995. Mrs. Tice then spent five years working with Share-time, a program in which students spend a half a day at their home high schools and spend the other half at their vocational school of choice. Her next and current job was to be found here at HTHS.
