On Dec 9, the High Tech Academic Team went to BioTech's annual BioBowl, a Jeopardy-style trivia tournament. The A team, consisting of Kevin Liu, Indus Boddu, Daniel D'Silva, and Saketh Satti, swept the field in a dominating fashion. The B team consisting of Ranvith Adulla, Rohan Arni, Vincent Li, and Vinil Polepalli came in a respectable 7th place in a field of 34 teams. Great job by all!
On Wednesday, May 11th, Sophomore, Katherine Fang, was awarded first prize in the student competition at the 107th John J. Lagrosa Annual Conference and Exposition of the New Jersey Water Environment Association. Katherine was recognized at the conference for her study entitled, “Surveying Water Surface and Wetlands in Delaware Bay Using Cloud-Removed LandSat Data.” Winners were selected from projects that were entered into the 2022 Water Environment Federation SIWI/Stockholm Junior Water Prize National Competition. They were selected by a panel of 8 NJWEA Member Judges. Katherine was chosen as the NJ state winner, was awarded $1000 for her work and will be competing at the WEF/SIWI National Stockholm Junior Water Prize Competition at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO in June. Congratulations to Katherine for her outstanding work!
From May 5th through May 7th, the HTHS VEX teams traveled to Dallas Texas to compete at VEX Worlds. The 818 teams in attendance were divided into 10 divisions with 765A in the Spirit Division and 765X in the Design Division. The competition was incredibly intense throughout the event. As the third seed in their division, 765X earned the title of alliance captain and ultimately that of Division Finalist! This is the furthest that any HTHS team has advanced at Worlds! Congratulations to both teams!

The 1st doubles duo of HTHS senior Noah Rediker and Allied Health and Science freshman Zach Sutton helped lead the Spartans to a 5-0 victory over RBC. Ocean moves to 4-0 for the season. On Monday, they will be home against Holmdel. @OceanTennis
On Wednesday, April 6th, 20 HTHS students competed at the 74th Annual Delaware Valley Science Fair. The 755 students competing at the fair earned 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place at one of the 13 regional science fairs in Southern New Jersey, Southeastern Pennsylvania, and Delaware. HTHS students competing at DVSF were all place winners at the Jersey Shore Science Fair at Stockton University on March 19th. Sixteen of our students were presented with 33 different awards at the final award ceremony. Special Awards were presented by local Professional Societies, Organizations and Companies, and were awarded to students whose projects reflect the mission and goals of that organization. Most of these awards also included a monetary prize. In addition, HTHS students competed in 10 of the 15 STEM categories at the fair. Within each category, a team of judges selected a first, second, and third place project as well as honorable mentions. Along with a medal and a certificate, first place winners received $100, second place winners received $75 and third place winners received $50. The first place category winners in each grade level then competed for the bronze, silver, and gold medal and an all expense-paid trip to the Regeneron International Science Fair, held in Atlanta, Georgia in May. The HTHS virtual hackathon, hths.hacks(), is back online and ready for another year of coding awesomeness!
What is hths.hacks()?
hths.hacks() is a student-run, MLH sponsored hackathon hosted by the Robotics & Coding Club (RoCo) of High Technology High School. It takes place completely online for high school students from across the world. We aim to give students the opportunity to build solutions to real-world problems while meeting others and having fun. On May 21-22, 2022, over 300 students will spend 24 hours brainstorming, implementing, and showcasing their projects.
What can you win?
Prizes will include, Oculus Quest 2 VR Glasses, JBL Charge 3 Waterproof Speakers, Amazon Fire Stick (4K), Rocketbook, Tile Mate, Amazon and Steam Gift Cards, and access to the Wolfram|One Personal and Wolfram}Alpha Pro sofware.

On Saturday, March 26th, seventeen HTHS female students presented the fourth annual cypHER coding camp for middle school girls. On that day, over 40 participants learned how to develop websites using HTML & CSS (Beginner & Intermediate) and JavaScript (Advanced). They day culminated with the girls working in groups to produce their own websites ranging from topics on climate change and national landmarks to cooking and travel! This year’s cypHER team was led by senior Emily Luo and junior Aliya Grinberg.
The High Tech Performing Arts Club produced and performed The Addams Family Musical on Thursday 3/18 and Friday 3/19 at the Brookdale Performing Arts Center. The show was a hit (both nights!) and got rave reviews! High Tech students worked as performers, musicians, stage crew/set designers, tech managers, choreographers, costuming/make-up designers, and more to make this show such a success.
This year, the JSSF was once again back to an "in-person" format. Twenty-seven HTHS students traveled to Stockton University in Galloway, NJ to present their research and engineering designs to a panel of judges. Students placing first, second and third will compete at the regional level at the Delaware Valley Science Fair (DVSF) on Wednesday, April 6th. Our students represented HTHS very well and 20 advanced to DVSF. Below is a list of competing projects and awards earned:

Eshan's performance helped propel the High Tech Varsity Team to a 2nd place finish in the 2022 NJ High School State Championship.

On March 5th, the HTHS VEX teams co-hosted and competed in the state championship at Bell Works in Holmdel. While there, team 765X was the first team to qualify for VEX Worlds by earning the Think Award. In the 2 vs. 2 competition, teams 765A & 765X earned the Tournament Finalist award which is also a World Championship qualifier. Congratulations to both teams!
On Wednesday 2/23/22, the Chess Team competed in the Shore High School Chess League Championship Tournament that was held at Monmouth Mall. The varsity team consisted of Eshan Guha, Indus Boddu, Abhinav Ramidi, Ivan Wong, and Kevin Guan.
In the first round of the 3 round tournament High Tech defeated Toms River East 5 to 0. In the second round, they also defeated perennial powerhouse and arch-rival CBA by a score of 5 to 0.
For the 14th consecutive year, High Tech had made it into the Shore HS Chess League Championship Match!! High Tech was pitted against Manalapan HS in a rematch of last years’ championship match. Last year’s match went down to the final board, but there would be no drama this year. The Fab Five dominated the match en route to another 5 to 0 win. This is the first time that a team from High Tech has ever won all 15 games in the Championship Tournament!!
So, CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SHORE HIGH SCHOOL CHESS LEAGUE CHAMPIONS for 2022!!!
This is the 4th consecutive championship and 5th in the last 6 years.
Additionally, High Tech had 3 players competing in the Extras Tournament. The tournament field consisted of 36 players from 12 schools. Congratulation to Extras Tournament Champion Alex Postovskiy who was the only player to win all 6 of his games. Ben Shain had 4 wins to finish in a tie for 5th place and Albert Dong battled his way to a highly respectable 3 and a half points.

On February 19, the HTHS VEX teams traveled to Sparta High School for their third competition of the season. While there, team 765A performed extremely well, earning the Robot Skills Champion and Excellence Awards. All three HTHS teams have now qualified for the state championship event. This competition will be co-hosted by the HTHS VEX teams and Robot Revolution at Bell Works in Holmdel, NJ, on March 5th.
On February 5, the HTHS VEX teams traveled to South Brunswick High School for their second competition of the season. All three teams qualified for the quarterfinals where HTHS team 765A and their alliance partner 4610J defeated the top-seeded alliance from Robot Revolution and Sparta High School in one of the most exciting matches of the day. In the first semifinal match, HTHS team 765X and their alliance partner 750C defeated 765A and 4610J qualifying them for the finals where they eventually earned the title of Tournament Champions. In addition to Tournament Champions, 765X earned the Excellence Award for best overall performance, notebook and team interview and had the highest score in the Robot Skills Challenge, earning them the Robot Skills champion award to close out an outstanding day.
On Saturday, January 22, 2022, the High Tech Academic Team sent 2 teams 150 miles away to GORGII, a regional Quiz Bowl tournament held at Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Connecticut. Twenty of the best teams from Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey attended.
After going 10-0 throughout the day, the High Tech A Team beat Hunter College High School in the finals, winning the competition undefeated.
The High Tech A Team was led by captain Max Brodsky (senior) with teammates Sidharth Srivastava (senior), Kevin Liu (junior), and Ranvith Adulla (sophomore). The High Tech B Team consisted of Shashwat Tewari (senior) and Claire Liu (freshman).
Additionally, Max Brodsky received a prize for being the individual with the third most points scored of all 78 participants.
