HTHS Students Place 3rd in 2023 MathWorks [M3] Challenge!

High Tech students were awarded the Cum Laude Team Prize of $10,000 college scholarship for placing third in the 2023 MathWorks Math Modeling [M3] Challenge. This year’s Challenge tasked teams to quantify the growth of e-bikes use and their impacts on society. The students were allowed 14 hours to write a 20-page paper during a weekend in March. Over 800 teams across the US and the UK registered to compete, with 650 teams submitted papers. SIAM [Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics] organized a group of over a hundred Ph.D. mathematicians to evaluate and judge the papers. The top 6 teams were requested to make a final oral presentation in downtown New York City on April 24. This year’s team of 5 seniors consisted of Kevin Guan, Amanda Lin, Michael Gao, Amanda Guan, and Kevin Liu.

HTHS Students Earn Honors at Delaware Valley Science Fair!

On Wednesday, April 4th, 25 Research students competed at the Delaware Valley Science Fair. All competitors qualified for the fair by competing in the Jersey Shore Science Fair and placing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in their research category. High Tech students competed against 900 students from Southern New Jersey, Southeastern Pennsylvania, and Delaware for special awards and category awards. HTHS students were awarded a total of 39 awards, including scholarship money, monetary prizes, and medals. We had 7 first place projects which is a record for HTHS! HTHS TEAMS Students Qualify for TSA Nationals!

TSA club members competed in TEAMS (Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics, and Science) earlier this year. TEAMS challenges teams of high school students to collaboratively solve real-world engineering issues by applying their STEM knowledge in practical and creative ways. All three HTHS teams qualified for the national TSA conference in Louisville, KY!

HTHS Students Chosen as NCWIT 2023 National Honorable Mention Winners

On Thursday, April 13th, Juniors, Shravani Vedagiri, Advika Vuppala, and Sophomore Ishani Singh, were awarded National Honorable Mentions for the NCWIT (National Center for Women & Information Technology) Award for Aspirations in Computing at Kean University. They were recognized for their leadership, aptitude, and aspirations in technology and computing. These girls represent the top 10% of the 4,000 applicants who had applied for this award and received recognition at the Regional Affiliate Award event, an engraved award, entry to a peer-network of women in the NCWIT AiC Community, and various prizes. Congratulations to Shravani, Advika, and Ishani for their outstanding work!

HTHS Competes at Livingston High School's March Madness Quizbowl!

The High Tech Academic team on Saturday, March 18,  went to the Livingston High School’s March Madness Quizbowl tournament. The A Team, consisting of Kevin Liu (senior), Ranvith Adulla (junior), Rohan Arni [freshman, A-team debut], and Ryan Leverock [freshman, another A-team debut], had an amazing performance. They came in third place overall in a very strong field of 36 teams. We're especially impressed with Rohan's and Ryan's knowledge!

The B Team, consisting of all freshmen, Mason Zamkotowicz, Krishna Kovuri, Maya Bhasin, Arian Arvandi, Vinil Polepalli, and Ayan Sharma, played well, getting a record of 6-4 for the day and winning every game in their consolation bracket. Congratulations to everyone!

Jersey Shore Science Fair Results

On Saturday, March 18, 51 HTHS research students competed at the 48th Annual
Jersey Shore Science Fair, held at Stockton University. High Tech had a great showing, and the 25 students that placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in their categories have advanced to compete at the Delaware Valley Regional Science Fair (DelVal), which will be held April 5th, and will host over 1,000 award winning projects from the tri-state region. HTHS VEX Team 765X Qualifies for VEX Worlds!

On March 4th, the HTHS VEX teams co-hosted and competed in the state championship at Bell Works in Holmdel. While there, team 765X qualified for VEX Worlds by earning the Design Award. Team 765X is co-captained by Nikhil Osuri and Aditya Sarwaikar, programmed by Kevin Liu with Priya Gokhale, Aravind Gunasekaran, Max Niu, Sreeja Paruchuri, Advika Vuppala and Daniel Zlotnick working on mechanics and documentation. Nine HTHS students named Lifetime Fellows of the American Junior Academy of Science

Last spring, 9 HTHS students placed at the New Jersey Academy of Science Competition, and were given the distinction of being New Jersey’s Delegates to the American Junior Academy of Science (AJAS) Conference, held in conjunction with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the National Association of the Academies of Science (NAAS). These students traveled to Washington DC from March 1-5, 2023 to take part in the annual conference, tour government and academic labs, network with scientists and professionals from government science agencies, and interact with notable speakers, like Dr. William Phillips, the 1997 Nobel Laureate in Physics. For their work leading into the conference, and presentation of their research posters, the students were awarded the distinction of Lifetime Fellows of the American Junior Academy of Science. HTHS Finance Club Competes in Sifma Stock Market Challenge, Fed Challenge, and Euro Challenge

Finance Club has been competing in the Sifma Stock Market Challenge, and will have teams competing in the Fed Challenge (National Economics competition for Juniors/Seniors) and the Euro Challenge (Economics Challenge on nations and economic conditions in the EuroZone (for Sophomores and Freshmen).

HTHS VEX Teams & Robot Revolution Will Co-Host the NJ State VEX Tournament @Bellworks on Saturday March 4th!

On Saturday, March 4th, HTHS VEX Teams (@hthsroco) and & Robot Revolution (@robotguys) will co-host the NJ State VEX Tournament @Bellworks for the second consecutive year. Fine Designs (@finedesignsofficial) will be onsite to provide custom print apparel.

HTHS Academic Team Competes at the NJ State Championships: History Bee & Bowl

At the New Jersey State Championships History Bee & Bowl at Ridgewood H.S. on January 14, 2023, the following High Tech students performed exceptionally well in the following categories:

High Tech PAC will present their spring musical, "Something Rotten" at the Brookdale PAC on Friday 3/17/23 and Saturday 3/18/23 at 7 pm both nights.

Something Rotten: Welcome to the Renaissance and the outrageous, crowd-pleasing musical farce, Something Rotten. Created by Grammy Award-winning songwriter Wayne Kirkpatrick, and successful screenwriters Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell, Something Rotten was lauded by audience members and critics alike, receiving several Best Musical nominations and hailed by Time Out New York as "the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years".

Over 70 High Tech-ers are working together to create this amazing show, building sets, preparing costumes and makeup, creating light and sound designs, playing live music, acting, singing, and even dancing (yes, dancing!).  Can’t wait to see everyone at the shows!

HTHS female students present their 5th annual cypHER event, a coding camp for middle school girls!

cypHER is a full-day web development workshop run entirely by female high school students and dedicated towards teaching girls in grades 6-8 how to code! Participants will learn HTML, CSS, and/or Javascript fundamentals in the morning, and then apply these skills to create unique websites in the afternoon. Students will meet and learn from female mentors in STEM, hear exciting talks from speakers, and have the opportunity to win exciting prizes for their projects! cypHER 2023, our fifth annual event, will be held in-person at High Technology High School on Saturday, March 25th.

HTHS VEX Teams win Tournament Champion & Excellence Awards at South Brunswick VEX Tournament!

On February 4th, HTHS VEX teams 765A, 765N and 765X traveled to South Brunswick High School for their third competition of the season. All three teams qualified for the final rounds in the elimination bracket with team 765A winning the Tournament Champion Award. Additionally, team 765X earned the Excellence Award due to their overall excellence throughout the day with regards to their robot skills score, tournament play, judges interview and engineering notebook. All three teams are now qualified for the NJ State Championship competition, which the HTHS teams will be co-hosting with Robot Revolution from Summit at Bell Works in Holmdel. Congratulations to all!

HTHS VEX Team 765X Wins Design Award at Sparta H.S. Spin Up Competition!

On January 14th, HTHS VEX teams 765A, 765N and 765X traveled to Sparta High School for their second competition of the season. All three teams qualified for the elimination rounds with team 765A reaching the quarterfinals. Additionally, team 765X earned the Design Award due to their outstanding team interview and engineering notebook. This award qualifies them for the NJ State Championship competition. The teams’ next competition will be at South Brunswick High School on February 4th. Congratulations to all!

HTHS VEX Team 765N Wins Tournament Champion Award at VRC Spin Up Saturday Showdown Hosted by Millburn H.S.!

On December 17th, HTHS VEX teams 765A, 765N and 765X traveled to Millburn High School for their first competition of the season. All three teams qualified for the elimination rounds, where HTHS team 765N and their alliance partner 2616W from Cherry Hill East went on to defeat the top-seeded alliance from Millburn in one of the most exciting matches of the day for the title of Tournament Champion! 765N is captained and driven by Liam Hoffman, programmed by Matthew Battista, Eshaan, Barkataki and Vishrut Thoutam and has a mechanics team consisting of: Ranvith Adulla, Katherine Fang, Varun Gabbita, Melian Varouhakis and Brian Ye!
